Buying a Franchise is not just for individuals, Our Milton Keynes Franchise is run by a team. Milton Keynes Women & Work are a charity and the proud owners of Extra Help Milton Keynes. We asked Janice Jones, one of the team, to give us a few words ...
our milton keynes franchise is operated by prominent local charity mk women and work
"For over 30 years, the charity Milton Keynes Women & Work has been enabling women to transform their lives. We provide free advice, guidance and training to support local women, especially those who are disadvantaged, into paid employment or further training. The funding climate is increasingly difficult for charities and yet the current unemployment situation sees an ever-increasing need for our services.
To help the charity to become self sustaining, we have set up a Charitable Interest Company, Women & Work C.I.C. The profits we generate from doing business through the C.I.C. all go into supporting the work of the charity. Although any business we undertake is therefore not restricted to fulfilling the core objectives of the charity, because it is locked to the charity there is still a need to maintain the same ethos and principles we apply to the charity.
Taking on Milton Keynes Extra Help just fitted that bill. As it is a franchise the hard ground work had been done and we were supplied with the business model to help us implement and start to grow our business. We are growing it slowly as it is important to us to have a solid foundation of happy clients and happy helpers. We also want to have the capacity to react to the new situations that will arise when you take on a new venture.
Or should that be adventure? As Office Manager/Project Co-Ordinator/Volunteer Manager in a fairly small charity you get used to being adaptable and taking on new roles. Niz, our CEO, is equally used to rolling up her sleeves and getting involved. We are passionate about the charity and between us we are managing, and slowly growing the Extra Help Milton Keynes business with the same energy and care."
The Milton Keynes Extra Help Franchise details can be found on the main website. Until next time ...
Sarah co-founded Extra Help in 2010, the same year that she became Director of the OakTree Networking company - and she hasn't looked back! Both companies are completely different, however each interacts with the community on a number of levels. Prior to starting Extra Help, Sarah owned her own domestic cleaning franchise which she successfully grew, featuring in the local and national press on many occasions. Working for the NHS at the start of her career gained Sarah invaluable experience in caring within the community - working with the elderly and terminally ill.
