Franchisee Of The Year At The EWiF Awards 2015

How did our Leicester West franchisee Emma do?

Posted on: 19/05/2015   By: Claire Robinson

Last week was very exciting! I mentioned a few weeks ago about Emma Clark, our franchisee from Leicester West, being a finalist for Franchisee of the Year in the EWiF awards. Louise, Emma and myself travelled to London for the awards ceremony ...

Franchisee Of The Year At The EWiF Awards 2015

It was held at the NatWest Headquarters in Bishopsgate as NatWest were the main sponsors. EWiF's primary focus is to support women who are looking for a route into the franchise industry.

Their remit is threefold. To encourage women to consider buying a franchise, to encourage business women to franchise their existing operations and to help franchisors attract more women to their networks.

"EWiF is a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers!"

The organisation provides advice and guidance to anyone looking at trying to break into the franchise industry. To find out more about EWiF have a look at their website which you can find at www.ewif.org.

It really was a great day. The awards took place in the morning followed by drinks and canap├ęs. There were eight award categories and Emma was a finalist in the Woman Franchisee of the Year category. Competition was stiff and I felt that all the finalists deserved to win.

In Emma's category there were five finalists: ActionCoach, Recognition Express, Computer Xplorers and McDonalds. Sally Findlay from Recognition Express won the award though we were still very proud of Emma for being in the final five.

"Emma is definitely a winner in our eyes!"

The award announcements were split into two sections allowing time for an inspirational speaker. This year it was Rachel Elnaugh, from Dragons' Den and Red Letter Day fame. Rachel's story was really interesting and also quite sad at times.

How did someone so successful, made a bad judgement in business which affected her life so dramatically? We found out at the EWiF awards and you can read about it in Rachel's recently published book about business nightmares.

A quote from Clive Sawyer, CEO of EWiF: "This year has been the 5th Annual EWiF Awards and having personally reviewed all of the entries, I am delighted and encouraged by the great achievements by so many women across all areas of the franchise industry. The EWiF awards allow us to publicly acknowledge a small number of these achievements, however, it is important to remember that the women we are recognising at the EWiF awards are only the tip of the iceberg, with many thousands of women making amazing achievements every day in franchising."

"It was a truly inspirational day!"

Until next time ...
