My First Twelve Months With Extra Help
What a whirlwind it's been ...

I joined Extra Help exactly a year ago today and can honestly say I love my job; it is so varied, every day is different, challenging and very rewarding. I initially joined Extra Help to run the Plymouth franchise ...
Well...what a whirlwind the past year with Extra Help has been. I am certainly looking forward to the next twelve months!
My role within this position includes; interviewing new cleaners and home helpers, visiting clients, marketing, troubleshooting and networking. I have worked hard to develop the Plymouth franchise since joining the company and it has recently become a member of the Trading Standards Buy with Confidence Scheme.
The Plymouth franchise continues to grow and I am always looking at new strategies to develop the business. Since joining the company I have made alliances with Plymouth City Council and local NHS services.
As well as running the Plymouth franchise, I am also now the Franchisee Manager for Extra Help and support the existing franchisees. Extra Help has grown significantly since I joined the company, from 5 last year to 16 franchisees now.
I am in touch with most of the franchisees on a regular basis and provide support to them, especially during the early days after training. I have travelled to Milton Keynes several times in the past year to assist with the new franchisee training and help with company development.
This part of my job also involves frequent travel. Last winter, we travelled from Plymouth to Hull for a franchise exhibition and have also visited South Wales to promote the company. These trips are not always easy, especially as a single parent, but I strongly believe the more you put into something the more you get out.
Extra Help are a very pro-active company and are always promoting personal development. I have recently started an NLP Business Practitioner Course with Claire Robinson, one of the company directors. This is a 6 month course and is taught on the beautiful Cornish coast, in a place called St Agnes.
I was delighted to be nominated for the 'Encouraging Woman into Franchising - Employee of the Year 2014 Award'. I have been selected as a finalist, which means attending an award ceremony in London at the end of May and, of course, a new dress and shoes for the occasion! I will let you know how the day goes ...
Well ... what a whirlwind the past year has been. I am certainly looking forward to the next twelve months. A big, big thank you to Clare Robinson, Sarah Jackson and all of the franchisees for making my first year with Extra Help so enjoyable!
Until next time ...
