My Journey with Extra Help Bedfordshire Central
Certainly more ups than downs ...

My business is called Extra Help Bedfordshire Central. It is a domestic services and cleaning company. It is for everyone and anyone looking at freeing up their own time and also to help support the elderly in remaining independent and living at home ...
The best bit of running your own business is seeing the rewards of all your hard work!
The business was started in January 2014. This was just after completing my training with the franchisors Sarah Jackson and Claire Robinson and their franchise manager Louise Penn-Collings.
The most interesting thing about my business is meeting the varied clients and getting the opportunity to make a difference in their lives. So far, it is going really well. However, starting a business in the current economic climate is not the easiest of things to do! Yes, it has been a challenge, but I am constantly evolving the business and looking at the best way to move it forward.
I have a space at Stevenage Day on the 8th June, which will see over 20,000 people attend. I know this will bring in some more business as well as grow the ever expanding brand of Extra Help.
The best bit of running your own business is seeing the rewards of all your hard work. A personal one for myself is seeing the company advert in the local magazine and thinking "I did that!" The worst part though, has to be the long hours!
So far, my most memorable success was signing up my first ever client. I was nervous and anxious, but when I got to the door and knocked, all that disappeared. I remembered that they have already called to ask for the service, which meant they were in need of a little extra help.
And I have made some mistakes along the way. To get Extra Help up and running I went for the first advertiser I came across to publicise my business. However, thinking back, I should have looked around more to see what else there was to offer for my marketing strategy. I feel it is important to not only accept that mistakes are going to be made but also to learn the lessons available from each one!
I am inspired by many business leaders and entrepreneurs. For his public image and huge success across a variety of different industries, Richard Branson is a huge inspiration to me. I would love the opportunity to discuss business with him! One of the things I've learned from his media interviews and biographies is this:
"Focus on the small details and keep an eye on the bigger picture. Never leave a stone unturned as you never know what is underneath!"
Come and visit Extra Help Bedfordshire Central this Sunday at Stevenage Day! It is being held at King George V Recreation ground, located just off Fairlands Way.
