Top Five Time Saving Tips For Busy People

Taking a little me time is important ...

Posted on: 30/01/2014   By: Stephanie Martirani

In today's busy world it sometimes feels like we are expected to be and do everything. Remember to take something for your child's class for show and tell, pick up bananas from the store for your elderly mother, take the dog for a walk, clean the house before your friends come over for a dinner party ...

When you're busy at home and with work, my top five time saving tips may come in useful!

When you're busy at home and with work, my top five time saving tips may come in useful!

I don't know about you, but I feel exhausted just thinking about it all! So how do we find the time to fit everything in? Read my top five time saving tips below and you'll soon be on your way to the title of supermum in your family!

  • Struggling to decide what's for dinner?

Make a monthly meal planner and keep it visible. I print off a meal planning calendar online, one for winter and one for summer. It allows me to put in 28 of my favourite fast and easy meals, with references to the recipe. That way, when it's time to make my grocery list, I don't have to search through my books to find out what ingredients I need.

  • Live in a multi-story home?

You know how annoying it is running up and down the stairs looking for things. Carry one item with you every time you go upstairs in your home. You can keep a little basket on the stairs where the items that need to be transported can stay until you're on your way up or down again.

  • Feeling stressed by your ever growing to do list?

You don't have to cope with everything on your own. That's where a company like Extra Help can really come in handy. Time is money and your time is valuable. If what you earn at work is higher than what you can pay someone else to do your home tasks then why are you struggling alone?

Chores like house cleaning, ironing and dog walking can easily be outsourced. Even if the task is something as important as helping out an elderly family member, do you really have the time to spare? Taking a little me time is just as important. If you don't give to yourself first, you'll have nothing left to give to others.

  • Often forget the birthdays of friends and family members?

You really do mean well, but who has the time to send out cards and keep up with everything? There are many apps available which can help you keep track of birthdays and even suggest gifts for your loved ones.

I like BirthdayCal on the Apple app store, but there are many available. Once you have that organized, buy a variety of cards all in one go. I often buy multi-packs of children's birthday cards, because it saves time and money. Only send out the cards once a month. It's better to get a card early than not at all.

  • In a rush and you can't seem to find anything to wear?

Keep your clothes organized in the closet by colour. That way you can easily find things in a rush. Also, declutter your closet by donating or selling any items you have not worn for over a year. If you haven't worn it for that long, it's likely you'll never wear it again. I also find it handy to have a lot of solid black and white items. They can be mixed and matched with just about anything.

I hope these top five time saving tips help you and remember that at Extra Help Bromley, "I will never place a cleaner or helper in your home that I wouldn't have in mine." If there's any way you feel I can help you, call me on 0845 375 1625 or visit my webpage.

Until next time ...
